We love what we do and we love when you want to chip in—and we’ve got two options below. Your donations allow BES to continue to create networks where artists and arts writers can thrive, so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
You can make one-time or recurring donations. Reach out to us if you’d like to do more!
We’ve also got a very limited-edition run of swag designed by one of our favorite artists, sidony o’neal. Get ‘em quick cos when we say “limited” we mean it…
We start every Arts Writing Incubator session describing the black aesthetic experiences we've had. One day, Brian Evans, one of the earliest participants in the Arts Writing Incubator, told us to make a hoodie commemorating this practice. Done and done. We commissioned artist sidony o'neal to create this hoodie with "You Are Having a Black Aesthetic Experience" embroidered in black thread on a white, Champion Reverse Weave Hoodie.
sid also cooked up a tote that reflects their deep, research-based practice. They explain, "I worked from visual references in my practice as an artist that I associate with historical, mathematical, and literary symbolic operators. These operators might indicate and appoint critical pauses, direct the experience of a work, and/or add infrastructure to my abstraction methods. Any invitation to "unhinge" or to think with similar embedded operators always brings me to examine the specific thought lineages and cultural inheritances i can mobilise within my work."
sidony o’neal is a conceptual artist and writer with a focus on post-digital and synthetic methods for the development of works. Engaging philosophies of translation, mathematics, and computing, o’neal’s approach prioritizes research, intuition, and interface among many types of objects and environments.
