About the Participant
Ayrika Hall
Ayrika Hall is a Chicago based art historian and scholar who specializes in the field of black contemporary art and museum studies. With a primary focus on rethinking the modes in which black art is understood, Hall employs a multi-disciplinary approach that highlights the intersections between art, culture, and philosophy in her research and curatorial projects. Using the museum as platform to unravel the complexities and dynamics of larger systems, Hall’s work examines the historical lineages of curatorial challenges and their implications for shaping the future representation of Black art. With a strong objective to preserve and historicize the rich micro-histories amongst contemporary black counterpublics, Hall’s research prioritizes the act of giving attention.
