About the Participant

Triniti
Watson

Triniti W. (she/her) is a critical Black Femme learner and facilitator based in Michigan. Working creatively at the intersections of healing and reclamation, Triniti seeks to dream of new worlds through decolonial ritual; writing is a tool to articulate her desires for a more Erotic present and future. Graduating with a BA in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Michigan State University, her fields of interest include Black and Queer politics+poetics, the Black Arts Movement, Black Music, and the Black Radical Imagination. Since returning home from the academy, she hopes to restore her relationship to the land of Waawiyatanong, also known as Detroit, and answer what her creative role is in pushing beyond what we imagine.

Her research has been published by the McGill University Department of Art History and Communications, the Journal of Black Canadian Studies, and Hyperallergic. Simone is an Advisory Board member for the Institute for the Study of Canadian Slavery, Communications Coordinator at Concordia University’s research hub Thinking Through the Museum, and is currently the 2021 Curatorial Fellow at New Local Space in Kingston, Jamaica.
