Participants—The Arts Writing Incubator
About the Participant
Brittney
Frantece
Brittney Frantece is a writer, artist, educator, curator, and PhD candidate in the English Department at the University of Washington (UW). She studies Black feminist speculative fiction and art through cultural studies readings that are centered around concepts of speculation, experimentation, surrealism, and horror. She explores Black literary and visual arts to examine the new ways of thinking, being, and knowledge productions Black imaginations offer. She teaches for UW's Expository Writing Program and has conducted workshops for The Northwest School and Henry Arts Gallery.
Her writing has appeared in Variable West, Outlier Chapbook, MFON Exhibition Catalog, Black Embodiments Studio Journals, and various art writing collections. She curated Queer Imaginations (2021) at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery and Juneteenth: Blackness and Freedom (2018) at The Beans Gallery in Chicago. In her free time, you can catch her daydreaming about elsewhere or carving linoleum blocks for printmaking.
