About the Participant
Bobbi
Kindred
Bobbi Kindred, visual artist, actor and storyteller, is a Feminist Studies Ph.D. student at the University of Washington. Their research looks at Black place-making practices within recovery infrastructures in order to reveal the ways Black people understand addiction and cultivate culturally relevant tools of recovery against the backdrop of systemic pathologization and criminalization of illicit drug users.
They are also the author of This (Boi)yant Body: Narratives of a queer Black boi and the waters that carry them, a quarter life biography recounting the moments leading to them getting sober at 23. Through their acting, visual art, and other storytelling practices, they hope to continue to reveal the power of storytelling to heal any wound that gape and its ability to raise the inner child into adulthood.
