About the Participant

Brandon Archer

Brandon Archer (He/Him/His) is a senior at Swarthmore College, with a specialized major in “Visual Cultures and Literature of the African Diaspora”. A Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, his research considers the stakes for contemporary artists representing the Black body in the Black Lives Matter Era, asking questions about the (re)fashioning and hybridization of the human form. Guided by a practice of empathetic racial justice organizing, he holds various research and leadership positions and serves as Executive Director of UrbEd, Inc., a Philadelphia-based policy nonprofit. On most days, he is being nourished by James Baldwin or thinking about the afro-future.
